St Anthony’s Home for the Aged
ST ANTHONY’S HOME FOR THE AGED
Was established in 1971 by Fr Berte. It is situated at Amakhasi, Sacred Heart Mission, under the diocese of Dundee. You will find us between Ladysmith and Dundee.
We are allowed to accommodate 70 residents who are aged. In our home we have residents who are destitute. Some have families but no one to take care of them.
We work hand in hand with social workers, some of our residents come through social workers, and some came on their own. We have residents who really need 24 hour care so we provide them. Some need high care and some low care.
We have got challenges, the common one is lack of funds. We are trying our best to economise. Our residents don’t just sit around doing nothing, they get involved in many activities that go on inside our home, like crafts and gardening.
Our place feels like home to our residents. We give them love as we believe love begins at home and never ends.
Let’s pray for each other as we are trying our best to make this world a better place to live for everyone.
