Director since 2008, responsible for strategic planning, fundraising and overall management of CATHCA. Interested in governance and organisational planning, monitoring and evaluation for small non-profits. I find working at CATHCA brings me into contact with many wonderful and unsung ‘heros’ and ‘heroines’ in community health, which makes it a very rewarding job

Joined CATHCA in November 2013 as a Finance Manager. Attended Machabeng International High School in Maseru Lesotho. Left Lesotho for the United States at the age of 18 to study . Holds a B.S. degree in Finance and Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Southern University of New Hampshire, Manchester. United States. During my last year at Varsity, I was fortunate to be accepted for an internship at the United nations, in New York working in the finance and administration department. While at the United nations, met my husband who is in the diplomatic Corps. Baraka and I have 4 children.
My career has been very fruitful and rewarding. Worked for Bank of New York, JP Morgan Chase and Fleet Boston Financial which later merged with Bank of America. Held many exciting and challenging positions within the financial world.

Elsa’s experience includes working in the HIV and AIDS, gender-based violence and community health sectors, she possess an Honours Degree in Resources Management and is an accredited facilitator who has specialised in extensive community capacity-building activities.
She is furthering her studies in the field of Psychology.

I joined CATHCA in July 2016 as the Administrator, working with a great team of people, but still have much to learn. Before joining CATHCA I spent 9 years as a Human Resources Manager at the petrochemical giant, Sasol Oil.
What I’m doing now couldn’t be more different, but I’m enjoying it!
Monitering and Evaluation: Tinashe on firstname.lastname@example.org
Tinashe Mandikonza is a Project Assistant manager who has been with CATHCA for two years and specialised in database administration at tertiary level. Her key expertise in the training unit are developing and maintaining the training databases for each of the trainings currently running, which are Maternal and Child Care, Psycho-social Support for Orphaned and Vulnerable children, HIV/Aids awareness Counselling and Testing, TB Dots Support and leadership trainings. She is responsible for data collation per each training, communicating with projects’ stakeholders and helping them to link with DOH, DOE, SASSA, DSD, social workers and each province’s SAPPs or local municipality leaders so that there is an improved communication network. She makes sure that POEs for each training are compiled and are ready for verification by HWSETA, our training accreditation board. Tinashe also populates the community dialogues prior to implementation and does report writing for all the trainings that will be taking place all year round

Bonginkosi Mthembu recently joined CATHCA as a Project Manager, originally he is from the East of Johannesburg in Duduza. But he was staying Bloemfontein working as a Provincial Manager for Treatment Action Campaign. He has held different roles in TAC, such as Provincial Prevention and Treatment Literacy Coordinator, Provincial Organizer, Provincial Capacity Building Officer, and the National Skills Development and Capacity Building Officer. He holds a Certificate in Access to Medicine and Intellectual property Rights. He has managed lots of projects in his previous job. I began work as Administrator at CATHCA in March 2000. In 2011 I semi-retired and have worked reduced hours working on the CATHCA archives and various projects that are not on other staff members’ schedules. I have enjoyed working at CATHCA and have grown with the organisation. I am about to retire a second time.
Prior to my 15 years at CATHCA I worked in the Archdiocese of Durban as the Justice and Peace coordinator from 1978 to 1993. It was a great privilege to work with Archbishop Hurley, one of the unsung heroes and saints of South Africa.

I am born and bred in Joburg, with a little international living experience! I have a hospitality background and enjoy communicating with people (I’ve been told I speak too much!) I am originally from the Federal Republic of Ethiopia. I received philosophical and theological formation in Ethiopia, Italy and Peru for the priestly ministry but after a due reflection and discernment I decided to pursue other style of life. I hold Master’s degree from St. Augustine college of South Africa in educational leadership and management. I am a registered member of SAAP (the Southern African Association for Pastoral work). Currently I am a pastoral care officer at CATHCA (Catholic Health care Association) in Johannesburg – South Africa.
